After over two decades of art-punk brilliance with the excellent trio TsuShiMaMiRe, bassist Yayoi Tsushima goes back to basics with a raw and dirty solo electronica project. Capturing the intensity and home made feel of that band’s early Bloody Mohawk and Pregnant Fantasy releases and mixing it with the atmosphere and ambience of their later work, I looked up is the encapsulation of a year that has left musicians unable to perform live and trapped us all at home, while simultaneously giving us the time and space to pursue new avenues and explore new depths that many of us didn’t know were there.
Favourite track: Into Oblivion / 忘却の彼方に (Bokyaku No Kanatani)
